The Jockey Club does a great job at tracking pedigrees and racing records of Thoroughbreds in a way that is easily accessible to all. In fact, this organization should be a model for what’s done right on the breed specific front. With a small staff, they project huge presence. What they haven’t done (maybe they can be convinced to do so in the future) is record Thoroughbred (TB) bloodlines and achievements on the sport horse front.
Many have searched for a compilation of TB producers for professional and amateur performance results beyond the racetrack. Monique Matson painstakingly compiled the best assessment of TB stallions and associated bloodlines with comments on areas of accomplishment and temperament issues to be aware of that I’ve encountered. There’s nothing scientific about this listing – it’s all primary research – but it’s incredible useful for those looking for some guidance on stallion lines that may produce what they seek.
Special thanks to Margaret Reiland (a fellow member of the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America) for providing this pointer. And a huge thanks to Monique for her selfless efforts to make this available to the rest of us.
